Should we slow down a Bit?

Our blog had gotten off to a great start! We are growing and will continue to grow.

As I pondered our last post over the weekend, Stop, Slow Down and Take a Deep Breath, I'm thinking I would like to do that with our blog as well.  There is a good base of content here for anyone that finds us, and we have some good topics established that we will continue to add content to as well. The daily posting I've done over the last month was also good for me to get much more familiar with blogging and how they work, so I can help you get started on your own blogs when you are ready.

But my concern is that we don't seem to linger much on an idea to explore it and get any good conversation going before we are off on the next topic --  so I'm thinking of slowing it down a bit and even going back and develop an idea more if you want to.

While we explore this conversation, here are a couple of Small & Simple Things to do:

1.  If you are already following the blog, but did not sign up for email notification, go back sign up under the "Follow by Email". This will let you know when a new blog post is there with a link to the blog so you don't have to remember to check in.

2.  There are a several posts that have comments and a couple that have some good information enhancing the original post.  Did you read them?  If not, you may want to go back through the blog and look for them.

So . . .

What do you think about slowing down?

What topics have you found the most useful?

Is there any post you would like to go back and develop some conversation on?

How often would you like to see a regular post?  2/week or 3/week or another number?

Which topic(s) would you pick as the "regular" weekly posts?

Are there additional topics you would like me to research and open up discussions on?

What areas in your business are you struggling with that you think we could help here?

What else can we do to make our blog more beneficial for you?

Give it some thought and come back and share.   Let's start some conversation. . .

  1. I've enjoyed reading, learning & copying from your blog.
Of most value to me are reviews of product or info that I can copy and paste directly into my own blog. I had slacked off on blog posts the end of 2010 due to time constraintes of compiling info. Your blog has made me sit down, review where we are at with blog world, and create a plan for making more regular entries across the board. I started properly last week and entered five posts. Not having to search around for all my content is great.

  2. Kay,
I think you have an excellent start here, and the info you are posting is very helpful. I have no idea how you can possibly sustain it at the pace you are going, and the problem is - that as great as your posts are, I don't have time to read them daily, and I hate to waste them. .....

If you post once a week, or midweek occasionally when you have something additional you think is helpful, I think that would be sufficient.
You hit the ground running, but if you don't start walking pretty soon, you're gonna pass out.
Having said that, I agree with Peter, the things that I have been able to transition into my own blogs have been the most helpful - as your blogs have motivated me to get back on the blog wagon.
    Thanks.
    :o)

  3. This is a great concept! I'm interested to read the previous posts. I'm a CFI author and I enjoy internet marketing. I have 4 little kids, so I need a clone that can sit at the computer all day and keep up with social networking and still give me time to write. :)

  4. Hey, Kay! I have really enjoyed your blog. I think slowing down a little is good. However, I have noticed that it has relaxed a little as it is. This might be a good pace. 3-4 times a week is probably plenty. Of course, I am most interested in Marketing Tips, but I have found that Training the Team is very helpful. It is nice to be able to forward the article to "the team", so that we don't feel like it's just us that think the employees should act a certain way with the customers when they are at work. Also, I enjoy any sort of news: Internet, Industry, etc. Also, Product Reviews are very helpful to me, since I don't have much contact with the actual product. Knowing more about the product helps me A LOT with marketing. Product reviews would be a good weekly topic. As far as the rest of the week, I think if you dwell on one topic for a full week or more then that would give us an opportunity to build our knowledge of one topic and enter into conversation about it. I like your Thinking Right and Weekend Ponderings, but honestly I haven't found them really helpful for me. Maybe Ponderings would be good sometimes or Thinking Right could be added as an extra thought to your other posts. Like for example, if your topic is Facebook Marketing, you would give us a special Thinking Right thought related to it that you tie in at the end. Also, I think the Featured Vendor topic is really nice, but once every two weeks or month would probably be plenty in that regard. Well, I hope this helps!!! I have really really enjoyed the blog. THANK YOU!

  5. One more thing...I really like how you have categories at the top! That makes it very easy to study the topic that interests me on a given day. It is very helpful.
