The Law of Thought

Journey of Joy to Success & Abundance, Part 2 -- The Law of Thought

“For as . . . [a man] thinketh in his heart, so is he.”  (Proverbs 23:7)

We started this series a couple weeks ago with the post  Understanding Law - Universal Laws versus Man-Made Laws.

So how are you doing on your "Thought Awareness" challenge?  Are your thoughts more positive or negative?  Have you made any progress “Nixing” the negative and fostering more positive thoughts?  Have you seen a difference in your life as you do?

Our minds are like a fertile field.  We are the farmers that plant the seeds.  The ground doesn’t care what we plant.  If we plant corn (or any positive thought), it will nourish the seed and give us corn.  If we plant weeds (or any negative thoughts), it will nourish those seeds and give us weeds. We are the ones that have total control over what grows in the "gardens of our minds," and is thus manifested in our lives.

Changing the way we think is not easy especially if we already have a pattern of negative thinking.  But just like weeding a garden, the sooner you "pluck the weed" the easier it is for the "good plants" to grow.

Following are a few good quotes from the book, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen:

“. . . the outer conditions of a person’s life will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state.”  (James Allen, As a Man Thinketh; pg. 7)

“Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts which he has built into his character have brought him there, and in the arrangement of his life there is no element of chance, but all is the result of a law which cannot err.” (James Allen, As a Man Thinketh; pg. 7-8)

“Men don’t attract that which they want, but that which they are.” (James Allen, As a Man Thinketh; pg. 11)

“. . . man has but to right himself to find that the universe is right.”  (James Allen, As a Man Thinketh; pg. 19)

“All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts . . . individual responsibility must be absolute . .  As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains.”  (James Allen, As a Man Thinketh; pg. 34)

And another book I've read is It's Not About the Money by Bob Proctor:

"Negative thinking is a bad habit practiced by far too many of us. We like to complain about the state of our lives or careers, or commiserate with friends and colleagues about all of our various dis-satisfactions.  They become convinced that this kind of negative thinking is good:  If you keep your expectations low, you can never be disappointed." (Bob Proctor, It's Not About the Money; pg. 18)

"Be aware of your focus [If you are worrying], you're engaged in a mindset of lack.  Worrying is negative goal-setting: By dwelling on the bad things that could happen, you are telling your mind they will happen! (Bob Proctor, It's Not About the Money; pg. 19)

“You do have control over your life.  You have chosen to be where you are now.  This is good news, believe me.  You may not like where you are now, but now you know you have the power to change it! (Bob Proctor, It's Not About the Money; pg.21)

And I'll conclude today's post with the great Albert Einstein:

"No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it."

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex . . . It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."

Changing the way we think isn't easy but it is possible.  Continue the "Thought Awareness" challenge and keep working at focusing your thoughts in a positive direction.

If you discover any good tips that are helping you do this, please come back and share . .

  1. Great ideas and great quotes. One of my personal philosophies is not to worry about things I have no control over. There are plenty of things I can control to take over the worry part of my mind!
